Make a list of what channels team members use to spread information. This might take place through meeting notes, an intranet, or perhaps a newsletter, for example. How does the team ensure that the information reaches the individual members via the different channels? Write down your response.

Why is it good to do the exercise?

Do you know what your colleague knows? Or do you have different pieces of information that can complement one another? One prerequisite for the team to be able to manage themselves through shared team leadership is that the members understand how information in the group is spread among them. This was shown in a 2014 meta-analysis by psychological researcher Vias Nicolaides et al. The study suggests that information-sharing contributes to consensus in important issues, which lays the foundation for shared team leadership.
