Why is it good to do the exercise?

When should we build a pyramid, and when should we tear it down? In a meta-analysis from 2014, the scientist Danni Wang and his colleagues asked themselves: When is it suitable to share leadership within a team? They found two key findings:

1. Shared leadership leads to an effective team if the leadership style is focused on development and change.

2. Shared leadership is better suited when tasks are more complex rather than basic routines.

A good idea could be to ask yourselves, 'What is our work like?' Do you deal with complex problems that are constantly changing and evolving? If so, you might have a lot to gain from implementing more shared leadership. Perhaps it's time to tear down a part of your pyramid?
