Why is it good to do the exercise?

Have you ever joined a social meetup online while others were together in person—and felt like a second-class participant? Maybe jokes are hard to hear, laughter is off-mic, or people point at things you can’t see. It can sting. Research by Ethan Kross and colleagues shows that social exclusion can activate the same brain areas as physical pain. Ouch.
