Why is it good to do the exercise?

What is the secret to team success? Goals. One of the most robust research findings in organizational psychology is this: setting high and specific goals is good for performance. This is what psychologists Gary Latham and Edwin Locke introduced in goal-setting theory back in 1990. In a meta-analysis and systematic review from 2017 by Tracy Epton, Christopher Armitage, and Sinead Currie, all doctors in psychology, they examined how goal-setting is related to actual behavior change. They concluded, once again, that specific and high goals seem to be effective. One of their conclusions was that group goals, rather than individual goals, were particularly effective when it comes to behavior change. As we look ahead, we can learn a lot by identifying what we've done well in the past. What experiences exist within the team of setting challenging and specific team goals?
