Why is it good to do the exercise?

Psychological safety is a contributing factor to a good psychosocial working environment and arises in a team when it is acceptable to point out an error without risk of being punished, ostracized, or shamed. Professor Bret Bradley led a study of 117 project teams and was able to see that psychological safety affects how a team is impacted by work-related conflicts. Their results show that conflicts can be good. When there is psychological safety, disagreements about how the job is to be performed can actually improve performance. If, on the other hand, safety is lacking, the team members feel worse and the performance level suffers.
